Women in their 50's need to lift and tighten their skin

Dermal fillers are effective at restoring facial shape, but in your 50s you must also lift or tighten skin otherwise you can risk looking slightly odd.1

When you can no longer deny the visible signs of facial ageing, you may start to wonder whether the surgeon’s knife is your only option. However, for many, the scalpel can seem a step too far. There are a whole host of non-surgical injectable treatments that are increasingly popular and rightly so; wielded by an aesthetic practitioner that combines skill and experience they can enhance your natural features or produce a subtle rejuvenation.

BUT, however effective Botox and dermal fillers are, at a certain age you have to approach them with caution. Temporary hyaluronic acid dermal fillers, for example, can restore the volume you lose as you get older, but in your fifties if you keep putting fillers into the face without lifting or tightening, then you can risk looking slightly odd.

Lifting and tightening

There are several effective treatment solution for lifting and tightening facial skin. One of my particular favourites is Ultherapy which delivers ultrasound energy deep into the dermis, targeting the same facial tissues that a cosmetic surgeon would operate on.

I love it because it’s a very precise, controlled treatment;

  • I can tighten up the deep muscle layer to produce a lifting effect, whether on the jowls, neck,
  • or brow, or I can target the most superficial layer of the dermis to improve fine lines and crepey skin.

Like facial rejuvenation surgery, it can lift and tighten, but – unlike a facelift – there’s no downtime or potential complications.  Ultherapy can be used in combination with Botox and dermal filler treatments plans to ensure that your skin is lifted and tightened so that you have natural looking aesthetic results.

Gradual or immediate results

One of the most important questions I ask during a consultation is when does the patient want to see results. Ultherapy works by stimulating collagen production so it’s a gradual change, perfect for those that want to keep their treatments on the hush-hush.

If you want immediate lifting and tightening then I can offer alternatives such as the Silhouette Soft thread lifts which can produce an instant, naturally beautiful transformation and again can be combined with Botox and dermal filler treatments.
