Many patients tell us they’re concerned about signs of ageing on the forehead - and there’s no doubt that lines can be apparent here. After all, we tend to furrow our brows when we’re worried or stressed. When those lines become etched in permanently, they can make us look older and more careworn than we really feel inside. This can have a real affect on a person's confidence and wellbeing.
Fortunately, though, this area is easy to treat - and there’s no need to be concerned about the eerily smooth, expressionless ‘frozen forehead’ look of an over-Botoxed celeb. We always aim to make you look like you - just fresher and more rested. In our expert hands, Botox and dermal fillers can fade away lines and wrinkles for a fantastically youthful yet still mobile, natural-looking result.
Smoothing wrinkles and lines for a more vibrant you…
For lines seen only on movement, a little Botox is the best solution and offers fantastic results which last for up to four months. Deeper forehead lines can be treated with a little dermal filler for a naturally smooth look. Patients can opt for a combination of Botox and fillers for the best possible result.
Do suffer from always looking cross?
Many patients are concerned about a vertical line (or lines) between their brows. Rather unfairly, it’s what’s known as the ‘mum line’ and can make even the happiest person look cross. Again, a small amount of dermal filler can make huge difference here - yet so subtly that no one will guess you’ve had anything done.
What do your eyes say to the world?
That you feel vibrant and youthful or tired and under the weather? Eyes are described as the windows to the soul - no other feature communicates, instantly, how you’re feeling right now. Bright, lively eyes tell the world that you’re happy and feel great. Rather unfairly, eyes are equally adept at communicating when you’re sleep-deprived or below par. Even more cruelly, eyes can send a negative message when the opposite is true. You’ve probably had someone pull a sympathetic face and say, ‘You look so tired…’ when you were actually feeling just fine. And there’s nothing like it to send your confidence plummeting to your boots.
Yet ageing does take its toll, and the delicate eye area is particularly at the mercy of the ravages of time. We’re talking sagging lids, under-eye bags and dark shadows which no amount of concealer can fix.
What we can do to restore (and take years off) your eye area…
Stop crow's feet
Crow’s feet natural occur with age - these are the lines which radiate from the outer corner of the eye towards the ear. They’re caused by laughing and smiling over many years. If yours are too prominent and causing you to feel self-conscious then a small amount of Botox - effectively stops the muscles contracting so strongly, thus softening lines without interfering with movement. It’s a simple treatment, usually taking no more than 15 minutes, with no downtime required afterwards (so it can be your secret). You’ll see fantastic results within two weeks.
Under-eye sagginess
Concerned about under-eye sagginess that no amount of early nights can fix? Again, a loss of elasticity is the culprit. Dermaroller is a highly effective treatment which causes a light inflammatory reaction. This causes the body to naturally lay down more collagen to tighten and tone the skin, regaining its youthful springiness.
Slackness on the upper eyelid
Slackness on the upper eyelid, which can make you look sleep-deprived, also responds extremely well to Dermaroller. You’ll experience a slight ‘prickly’ sensation, and mild pinkness around the eyes which lasts for no more than 12 hours. It’s a fabulous treatment if you want a more vibrant, naturally wide-awake look.
Dark under-eye circles
You can’t help feeling gloomy when you’re greeted by dark under-eye circles in the mirror. Unfortunately, no amount of so-called brightening concealer can hide them either. The dark shadows are just that - shadows formed by the fat pads on the cheeks sliding lower with age, and creating a hollow above them. Dermal fillers can effectively plump up the hollow for a younger, fresher, shadow-free look.
Under-eye bags
Bags under the eyes can make you look older and more tired than you feel, and can’t be camouflaged with make-up. However, those distinct under-eye bulges are easy to treat with Mesotherapy - an infusion of vitamins which effectively speeds up the breakdown of fatty pads. We may also recommend a Dermaroller treatment to tighten and tone the area for optimum results.
How we can restore your smile
As the years pass, volume is lost, resulting in thinning, indistinct lips. Lines appear around the mouth, nose and chin. Gravity takes its toll too, resulting in sagging and deeper lines. Ageing can make us look grumpy and sad, even though we don’t feel it. That’s when your confidence can take a real hit.
Non-surgical treatments are all about subtly replacing lost volume while keeping the natural proportions and contours of your face. That way, you can be sure that the results will be fabulously natural and never fake.
Smoker’s lines, or lipstick lines
Smoker’s lines, or lipstick lines - the kind that cause lipstick to ‘feather’ - concern many women (and, yes, non-smokers get them too). These are easily treated with Dermaroller, a simple procedure which causes a mild inflammatory reaction, boosting the skin’s natural collagen production for a firmer, springier tone. Deeper lines can be treated with dermal filler.
Restore you natural lip line
From your late thirties onwards, your natural lip line - the ‘vermilion border’ - begins to soften and fade, giving an older, washed-out appearance. A tiny amount of dermal filler can redefine the lip line for a youthful yet incredibly natural look. This treatment can also help to soften lines above the mouth.
Thinning lips
Many women complain that thinning lips make them feel less feminine. While no one wants a scary, over-inflated pout, a tiny amount of Juvederm brilliantly restores the lips’ softness. At Face & Body, we call this our ‘pretty lips’ treatment. It’s beautifully subtle and lasts around 9 months.
Sad mouths
You may notice a turning in or down of the outer corners of the mouth, creating a sad or grumpy expression. A little dermal filler here gives a softer, lifted look, taking away that frown without interfering with movement.
Nose-to-mouth lines
Nose-to-mouth lines, and a loss of volume at the base of the nose, can easily be treated with a little dermal filler. A quick, easy way to lift away the years.
Marionette lines
Marionette lines, which run from the corners of the mouth to the jawline, can create a ‘jowly’ appearance which makes you look tired and sad. A little dermal filler or Botox helps to soften lines and create a smoother, firmer, more youthful jawline.
